Hi Friends!
We are On The Sun, a soul band based in Brooklyn who write and perform all original music and are about to launch a tour supporting our upcoming single "She Gets Around". The centerpiece of the tour is our showcase at Red Gorilla Music Festival in Austin, TX. This festival attracts a ton of music industry professionals and will provide an amazing opportunity to promote the band. In order to make this happen we need some additional funding to help underwrite the single release and tour by March 4th, which is why we are reaching out to you!
Here is a quick breakdown of our costs:
The Single
Our new single "She Gets Around" is almost done! We have been able to DIY this bad boy so far, but we need some help from a professional studio to finish mixing and mastering. This is unfortunately the most expensive part of the process.
COST: $800
The Tour
Transportation and lodging are the big ones here. Austin is almost 3,500 miles round-trip from NYC (ouch!) and our tour route will be even longer than that (approx 3,680 according to google). Even with our best efforts to keep costs low, van rental, gas and lodging are all expensive.
COST: $2,595
Aren't you guys getting paid for these gigs?
We will make some money at our shows with guarantees, ticket sales and merchandise, but unfortunately this doesn't come close to covering our costs. Due to the very tight schedule of the submission/acceptance process for the festival we have had to plan much of this tour in a very short period of time. As a result, our costs will greatly outweigh what we are likely to make.
How is this whole tour thing going to help again?
Red Gorilla Music Festival is an enormous opportunity for us to promote our new single "She Gets Around" as well as the band in general to booking agencies, record labels, PR firms, and other bands. These people represent a network that is invaluable to us as we seek to expand our tour reach and increase exposure for the band.
