OMUTUKUVU Project: “Safe Water and Primary School For Mayrinya” Fundraising Campaign
Access to safe water and education are fundamental human rights and part of the Sustainable Objectives Goals of the UN.
¿What is the objective of this campaign?
The Omutukuvu Project (Mayrinya, Uganda) is raising resources to ensure Access to Safe Water for 120 families and to build 8 Classrooms to create the first Primary School for around 350 children that don't have access to formal education.
We need to Raise USD$ 19.200, to implement a water pump (USD$500) and to buy building materials for the classrooms (USD$ 18.700)
¿What is the Omutukuvu Project?
In January 2016, our founder Ken Ochieng was called back to his home of Mayrinya in Uganda’s Mayuge District to help nurse his sick grandmother in her final days. Before sickness eventually took her life, she made sure her legacy would extend beyond her 88 years of life. She entrusted the five acres of land that had been in the family for 200 years to Ken on the promise that it be used to serve not just the family but the entire community. With that promise, OMUTUKUVU began to take shape.
With the help of volunteers from all over the world, OMUTUKUVU’s vision was built based on the most urgent needs of Mayrinya, were around 120 families are living in vulnerable situations and paired with the most sustainable solutions to meet these needs. The purpose of OMUTUKUVU Project is establish of self-sustainable development in agriculture, education, energy and water to build improved, sustainable socioeconomic conditions for the thousands of people in the community.
¿Which are the Core work of Omutukuvu Project?
Safe water program
Water extraction, purifying and distribution system
Training in hygiene and safe water manage
Educational program
Primary educational school (1-7 grade government-certified)
Adult-level functional skills training center (computer and sewing courses to improve employment opportunities)
Agriculture training program
Renewable Energy program
¿What we have accomplished so far?
- Constructed a fresh water well to provide clean drinking water to the community
- Constructed 3 classrooms, 2 for primary school and 1 for the Adult-Level functional skills training center
- Raised $10,000 through the help of our international volunteer network.

Proyecto OMUTUKUVU: Campaña “Agua segura y escuela primaria para Mayrinya”
El acceso al agua potable y la educación son derechos humanos fundamentales y forman parte de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenibles de la ONU.
¿Cuál es el objetivo de esta campaña?
El Proyecto Omutukuvu (Mayrinya, Uganda) está recaudando fondos para garantizar el acceso a agua segura para 120 familias y construir 8 aulas para crear la primera escuela primaria para aproximadamente 350 niños que no tienen acceso a educación formal.
Necesitamos recaudar USD $ 19.200 para implementar una bomba de agua (USD $ 500) y comprar materiales de construcción para construir las salas de clases (USD $ 18.700)
¿Qué es el Proyecto Omutukuvu?
En enero de 2016, nuestro fundador, Ken Ochieng, fue llamado a su casa de Mayrinya en el distrito de Mayuge en Uganda para ayudar a cuidar a su abuela enferma en sus últimos días. Antes de que la enfermedad acabara con su vida, se aseguró de que su legado se extendiera más allá de sus 88 años de vida. Confió los cinco acres de tierra que habían estado en la familia durante 200 años a Ken con la promesa de que se utilizara no solo para la familia, sino para toda la comunidad. Con esa promesa, OMUTUKUVU comenzó a tomar forma.
Con la ayuda de voluntarios de todo el mundo, la visión de OMUTUKUVU se construyó sobre la base de las necesidades más urgentes de Mayrinya, alrededor de 120 familias viven en situaciones vulnerables y están siendo combinados con soluciones sostenibles para satisfacer sus necesidades. El objetivo del Proyecto OMUTUKUVU es establecer un desarrollo autosustentable en agricultura, educación, energía y agua segura para crear condiciones socioeconómicas sostenibles y mejoradas para las miles de personas en la comunidad.
¿Cuáles son los trabajos centrales del Proyecto Omutukuvu?
Programa de agua segura
Sistema de extracción, purificación y distribución de agua.
Formación en higiene y gestión segura del agua.
Programa educativo
Escuela de educación primaria (1-7 grado certificado por el gobierno)
Centro de capacitación de habilidades funcionales para adultos (cursos de computación y costura para mejorar las oportunidades de empleo)
Programa de energías renovables
Programa de capacitación Agrícola
¿Qué hemos logrado hasta ahora?
Construimos un pozo de agua dulce para proporcionar agua potable a la comunidad.
Construimos 3 aulas, 2 para la escuela primaria y 1 para el centro de entrenamiento de habilidades funcionales para adultos.
Recaudamos $ 10,000 con la ayuda de nuestra red internacional de voluntarios.
