Oliver’s rescue

It is with such a heavy heart I post this, animal abuse such as this horrendous case of neglect really makes me question the “goodness” of humanity. I came across this little earth angel Friday, in 80° Novato heat. He is a 3 yr old long haired Persian, who has been living as an indoor/outdoor, left un-groomed, due to his owners financial struggles. Luckily I have a contact through my work for a high end cat groomer, who I called immediately. She squeezed me in and has handled this situation with so much love and care. Oliver underwent his first de-matting appointment today and it was just over three hours long, due to the mattes being so dense he was only able to comfortably withstand the upper half of his body being groomed. We are giving him Easter Sunday to rest and recoup before his second (and hopefully last) session on Monday. Removing his upper matting revealed bad bruising as a result of the weight of the mattes. I am determined to get this sweet baby into the vet to get a desperately needed flea treatment and absolutely whatever additional care he needs. I would appreciate anything you are willing to spare to help support Oliver in this much needed rescue. If my goal amount exceeds the costs of all his care, I will donate to Petaluma animal shelter. And once he is in proper shape and health I have an adoptive mother all lined up.
