Olde Furrow Farmers

Thanks for visiting our funding site.  It's always hard for independednt people (like farmers) to ask for help, but Courtney and Adam Webster, of Olde Furrow Farm in Port Willams, NS are in need of your help now.

WHAT'S GOING ON?
These two young eco-farmers are struggling with an immigration crisis.  Courtney is originally from the United States and has been in Canada for some time now.  She attended the NSCC Horticulture program and has been working alongside her husband Adam for several years now on their family farm, Olde Furrow Farm.  While going to school and building their buisness, she has been trying to do things legally and the "right way" with Immigration Canada - applying for work permits, permanant residency paperwork, etc. 

Courtney has been given mis-information and very little constructive assistance from Immigration Cananda to the point that she was directed in December 2016 to leave the country, her husband and her business and start her Canadian Immigration paperwork all over (again!).  Courtney and Adam have now obtained legal advise (the second time around) and have committed to trying the paperwork process all over again. 

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Courtney has to leave Canada on December 31, 2016 to return to her home state of Florida and reapply for a different US Passport.  After hopefully 3-4 weeks (this is expidited processing in the US) she will attempt to regain entry into Canada, be reunited with her husband Adam and re-apply for a work permit and regain her permanant residency status.  There is no garauntee she will be admitted into the country at that time, but we're hopeful she will be, given she has significant ties and has been working with Immigration Canada for years now.  If she is not allowed in immediately, she will remain in the USA and  Adam will then meet her and they will drive back together to face the the Border and Immigration together a second time and hope for the best.

WHAT DOES IT COST?
Along with the mental and emotional stresss, there are many financial costs associated with this immigration crisis and as a small farming family, funds are stretched to the breaking point.  Choices of life essentials vs. lawyer and application fees are not good choices.  Let's lighten this burden!
We are campaigning to raise $5500 to help ease this crisis.  Here's a breakdown of how the funds will be used:
     Immigration Lawyer (professional advice) 
     Plane Tickets
     Applications Fees and associated costs (photos,     notarized paperwork, etc.)
     Travel Costs (to US, Back to Canada)

Courtney and Adam have already spent over $1000 on fees and professional advice so far.  They have a limited farming income and need help NOW.  Courtney hopes to be able to complete the paperwork process  in Jan/Feb 2017 and she and Adam would be thrilled to begin their farming season again in March with this nightmare behind them.  Your donations will help get them on their way.

HOW CAN I HELP?
By donating to the Olde Furrow Farmers, you are untying hands that truly want to dig in the dirt to continue to bring you healthy, delicious ,and nutritious food.  The seasonal farming they do is normally subsidized in the winter with off-farm employment, of which Courtney is unable to contribute this year.  Having to choose if they can afford to continue to farm is not a choice we want to see them forced to make.  They would be so thankful for your contribution.  Easing their financial (and mental) stress enables them to focus on continuing to bring their customers and community high-quality food and plan their growing season to come!
