Last Saturday morning at approximately 4:30am, a thief waited for our staff to leave and then Old Nick’s Pub was robbed. Our POS system was taken and our roll up door destroyed. We installed the custom door so bands could load right onto the stage and replaced a rattling metal door so drummers wouldn’t have the sound impeding their performance. The door alone is $4,000.
We need emergency funds to recover and secure our space, and it looks like insurance will be taking a long time if they pay for anything.
The Pub began as a dream of supporting the creative music community in Eugene. We operate ethically with our musicians and performers, pouring hours of time and labor into promoting local acts, supporting them, and giving them a creative space to express themselves. Our team is dedicated and hard working.
That being said- Summer are our hardest months. With students gone and many of our regulars on vacation or enjoying the beautiful Oregon wilderness, we usually eek by until the Fall comes and things pick up again.
Because of this we have no extra funds to replace our equipment or purchase some security upgrades the space desperately needs.
We have not wanted to resort to crowdfunding in the past, as we felt it was our job to support the community, not the other way around. We are, however, finding ourselves at a breaking point with this act of violation and theft.
Any donations will be used to replace our stolen and damaged equipment- totaling around $5,000 when all said and done. If we raise more than this we will add security to our space and use extra funds to upgrade some much needed musical equipment.
