Emily at American Dance Festival

Hello, 
you may or may not know me, but my name is Emily Barasch. I am graduating in May with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and dance performance and choreography from Tulane University. As I graduate, I look to the next chapter, and what the next steps are for me; as an art maker, choreographer, dancer, and social commentator. As far as I can see (which is not very far as of now) the next step for me is to go to the American Dance Festival in Durham, North Carolina for six and a half weeks this summer to further my skills and immerse myself in a world of choreographing, dancing, and performing. I had the privilege of doing a ten day intensive with the American Dance Festival (ADF) this past December, and felt certain I had to return in the summer for the festival in its entirety. The goals of ADF are to encourage and support the creation and presentation of new modern dance work by both established and emerging choreographers, to preserve our modern dance heritage through continued presentation of classic, to uphold appreciation of the art form and its cultural and historical significance, to provide a sound scientific and aesthetic base for professional education and training of young dancers, and to maintain a forum for integrating and disseminating information on dance education. I do not know where life will take me after college, but I would appreciate any help I can get in being in this environment and creative space this summer.
