MPD Officer Jake Churchwell

On Nov. 2, 27-year-old Midland, TX Police Officer Jake Churchwell was pursuing a motorcycle that was dangerously speeding in and out of traffic. Officer Churchwell lost control of his patrol cruiser and slid into the median. His patrol vehicle momentarily rolled on its side and Jake was partially ejected from the vehicle.
Jake is currently in a serious but stable condition. Due to his condition, he will be moved to a long term rehabilitation facility in the next few weeks
where he will receive specialized care. His family will undoubtedly take in some unforeseen expenses that are not covered by medical benefits.
Jake Churchwell has been an officer with the Midland Police Department since Oct. 2015. Jake is also a Marine and a combat veteran. He was in the Marine Corps for eight years during which time he was deployed twice to Africa and Afghanistan. He is a father of two daughters, ages 7 and 10, and is expecting a child in April.
