Winning local and State competition for this team was like an impossible dream. After years of hard work and dedication that dream came true. Our young team from Terrace Elementary reached the 1st place at the State Tournament advancing to the World Finals in Michigan State University May 22 – May 26, 2019
Now our young team is ready to take on the competition at the World Finals, but not without your help!
They need to raise $10,000 to cover the tournament fees, travel expenses, accommodation, meals, shipping of materials and more.
We are reaching out to all Spring Branch area businesses and neighbors to help this team of young champions and take them to Michigan for the World Finals
What is the Odyssey of the Mind?
Odyssey of the Mind, is international educational program involving students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries.
They must also participate in the spontaneous portion of the competition by generating solutions to a problem they have not seen before. While the long-term problem solution often takes many months to complete and involves various elements of theatrical performance, construction and design, the spontaneous portion occurs the day of the competition.
