Thank you for visiting are site on Go-Fund-Me.  Our small museum is located in the North Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains in the small town of Ellijay Georgia.  We have a wonderful history which because the town was so poor most current residents are unaware of.
We have made efforts to preserve and tell the story to give the current and upcoming generations a sense of pride for their strong heritage and history.  We have several displays, furniture, pictures of families and pioneers of the area, and a small restaurant that helps to offset our utility bills.  For several years we have broke even.
We now have high school students as volunteers in addition to our adult volunteers.  These students have some great ideas for displays and want to put them together themselves.  In order to do this we need more display cases, mannequins that they can dress in appropriate regalia or costumes of the periods they are conveying to the public.
We have an American Indian room depicting our vast history of Coosa, Creek, and Cherokee Indian heritage and history.  We have a few displays out but much more in storage that can't be displayed without cases.
We have a Civil War room that includes over 250 history books depicting both the union and confederacy.  Several peices of memorabilia donated by descendants of those who served from our county.  Many more items are in storage since we need more display cases.
We have a typical bedroom set up to display the heritage of the 1870's era house.  The bedrooms were used to house boys from the county to attend the school nearby.  Several more items are in storage waiting for the display cases.
We have a 1950's era setup of a kitchen and kitchen items utilized during that time frame.  More items are in storage.
We have a display of the geology by our science teacher volunteer.  This display case is in the ladie's parlor.  The dining room displays a collection of tea pots and cups and saucers.
We have two offers for more collections but currently do not have enough display cases to protect them.  One is for nearly 100 toys collected over 75 years.  Another is a flapper dress, victorla, and items inherited by a family who wants to share them with the residents of the area as well as hundreds of tourists we have come to visit each year.
We receive donations for the tours of the museum which offset the upkeep and maintenance of the facility.
We have need of a wheelchair ramp, new windows and the house needs painting.
Money is always an issue towards being able to buy the items needed and to pay for someone to do the handiwork around the museum.
We hope that you will feel that our cause is worthwhile.  Perhaps you will come and visit our facility and see that we are worth your attention.
Thanks for reading our plea...
