Dotty Hancock  MERIDIAN, ID
Kalli has overcome many challenges in her 9 years of life! She was born prematurely at 24 weeks and spent 123 days in the NICU. During her stay in the NICU, she suffered a stroke that affected the left side of her face and her muscle tone in the right side of her body. While she has been able to build muscle tone in her body, she has never been able to regain any tone in her face.

Kalli has been asking for some time now, "When will my smile look like yours?" She at times tells us she will get a bigger smile when she "grows up." As parents, we didin't know if that was ever possible. Until now!

We have met with a doctor who believes he can help Kalli- with a 95% success rate in past proceedures! It is a two-surgery process that we would have to travel to Los Angeles for. We are asking for your help and prayers in reaching this goal for our daughter, and to give her the smile she deserves to match the personality she  has!

It has been a crazy busy summer for the Hancock family! Kalli's first surgery went really well and her second surgery is scheduled for December 9th. This means that Kalli should have a new smile before Christmas! We are grateful for all of the support thus far, but now we have to push to fund-raise for phase two! Please help us get the word out about Kalli's story and this miracle in the making!

I myself have facial paralysis. .. not due to a stroke but another rare condition. I spend much of my childhood wondering when my smile would go back to "normal". I still have facial paralysis but now accept it as part of who I am and it certainly has not stopped me from great accomplishments :-) I will pray for a successful surgery but just know that you can become a strong women even if it doesn't work as well as hoped.

Kalli - you are beautiful and I hope your new smile helps you communicate this to those who cannot already see that! My daughter, Aanyah, was also born prematurely at 32 weeks and 2 lbs 11 oz. Like you, she also suffered a stroke which has left her with mild cerebral palsy. It is difficult to be different, but I can tell from your story that you, like my daughter, are a fighter and will not let this get you down!
