Hello to my family, friends, and fellow dreamers. My name is Kaitlin and I am a junior in high school. This summer I have been accepted into the Tisch Summer High School Filmmakers Workshop giving me the opportunity to spend 4 weeks at NYU (the number 2 film school in the nation) studying and creating a film. Several well-known celebrities and film producers have come through NYU including Alec Baldwin, Whoopi Goldberg, Woody Allen, Lady Gaga, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Adam Sandler, and many more. The program provides 6 college credits that will directly apply to my future college coursework in film studies and provide a huge advantage when applying for college. This is a highly competitive program and is only offered to students that demonstrate a strong work ethic in school and a clear desire to work in the film industry, which is my lifelong dream. Of course, with a competitive program comes a high price tag ($11,606 broken down below).
Tuition: $8238
Registration Fee and Services: $800
Program Fee: $160
Housing in NYC: $976
Meal plan (10 meals a week): $664
Film Narrative Lab and Insurance Fee: $578
Film Narrative Ticket Fee: $190
My parents have confirmed they can pay for half of the cost of the program and travel, but I will need to work very hard between now and May 11, 2017 to pay the remaining $6000. I am beginning a part time job to earn as much as I can, but the reality is that I will not be able to earn it all. Therefore, I am reaching out to you to ask for help in reaching my goal. This is the opportunity of a lifetime and I can’t let it pass me by! As a special thank you, all named donors will receive a personalized thank you video from me. In addition, my parents have taught me that you don’t get things in life for free, so I am committing to work 1 hour of community service for each $10 I raise through this campaign. For any donor giving $50 or more, I will even work at the non-profit organization of their choice (in the Charlotte metro region) for the 5 hours committed to by their donation! Lastly, any sponsor donating $100 or more will also be listed in the film credits and receive a copy of the film.
