Medical Funds

This is my wife Nina. She has Diabetes, congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the Liver, and Kidney's that are all in the process of slowly failing. She is currently in Hospice care because of her liver. She has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Renal (kidney) and only about half, (or less now) of her Liver function. Because of her medical conditions (Liver, heart, and Kidneys), she is not eligible for a liver or kidney transplant. She has undergone various treatments to try and control the liver disease as well as her kidneys. At this point in time, she has not undergone dialysis and according to the doctors it probably would not be effective.

She has lost her right leg below the knee in 2014 due to her fight with diabetes and we are currently fighting to save her right foot which is being treated by a wound care doctor. She has virtually lost her sight as she can only see things that are directly in front of her and even then it is very blurry. She has undergone two operation on her eyes without any real success, due in partiality to her diabetes.

Nina has been in and out of the hospital, nursing homes, and rehab facilities for the last four or five years. There have been stretches where she would go from one to another and has been away from her home for almost 9 out of 12 months. So you can see that over the course of the last few years she has had a very hard time.

Both Nina and me are on SS. I took early SS retirement in June of 2015 to stay home and take care of her 24/7. It was one of the conditions for her to be able to come home. As you can see with the SS being our only income it is very hard and tight to make ends meet, especially the hospital and doctor bills. We currently owe just under $8000.00 on hospital bills and this is after the hospital has placed us on assistance. This lowered our bills considerably but meeting the charges and fees after that is still a large amount of money for us.

We aren't sure at this point what her life expectancy is considering many of her organs are starting to fail. Some faster than others, but the end result will be the same. I know this may sound greedy to some, but I am not ready to give up on my wife of over 43 years. Although this money will not cure her or even possibly make her better, it will take a very heavy burden off our shoulders for the time being and allow us to live life a little easier without the hospital calling us constantly for payments. Over the years we have racked up well over $1,800,000.00 in hospital and long-term facilities bills, so as you can see it has been a very long road that she and I have been towing. I would like to say that we plan on doing it for many more years to come (being together that is), but right now only God knows the real answer to that one. If something should happen to me, it would mean that the house and what little property we own would be gobbled up by the by the collectors and the state to pay off those bills. The amount we are currently asking for is to try and bring our bills to the hospital to a zero level, although there will probably be more as the year progresses.

I am asking if you could please give from the heart and help us out. Portions of this hospital bill are due by or before the end of the month. So the need is real and immediate. Let me say in advance, Thank You, for helping us out.
