Brian E Colbert Park Bench Fund

Born on February 16, 1991, my sister gave birth to her first son, my first nephew, Brian Edward Colbert. From the moment Brian was able to walk and talk we knew he was going to be someone special. It was not just his golden curls, adorable face, and devilish smile, yet his infectious personality that made him stick out in a crowd.

After attending Hampstead public schools, Brian attended Pinkerton Academy were he maintained good grades, played basketball, baseball, and soccer. However, once he picked up his first golf club he knew golf was the sport for him! A four-year member of the Varsity Golf Team, Brian still holds the record for lowest 9 hole round in school history!

Brian was very well liked at Pinkerton Academy, not with just one particular group of students, but all students. His classmates recognized Brian as someone who could be trusted and relied on, someone they could speak with openly and honestly, while always knowing they would never be judged nor criticized. Brian was often referred to as a leader, a politician, a true gentleman, "All American", a big softy, a best friend, charismatic, talented, athletic, and happy-go-lucky.

Before graduating from Pinkerton, Brian was voted Prom King. However, Brian modestly relinquished his title to a fellow student that he felt did not receive the the respect and recognition he deserved from his peers.

Brian continued on to the University of New Hampshire where he became a member of the Club Golf League and competed in the National Collegiate Club Golf Association Tournament. His parents could not have been any prouder!

In December of 2014 Brian received his Bachelor of Science degree in Communications.

Tragically, Brian was killed in a car accident on December 28, 2014 and over a thousand people stood in the bitter cold outside of the funeral home for several hours just to pay their respects to a young man that impacted their life in one way or another.

Throughout all of his years of athletic, social, and academic achievements, Brian never lost sight of Hampstead, where he continuously offered his time to community service, particularly the park recreational program. It is for this reason I am looking to raise enough money for the purchase of two park benches which will be placed at the basketball court in memory of my nephew.
