Amsterdam Marathon for Ted

Donation protected
Saturday 10th of February was a day like any other. Wales were playing England at rugby in the 6 nations, filling the living room at 166 Cathays Terrace with an air of excitement.

The news that interrupted the match on that day was heart-breaking. Ted, a friend and fellow medical student, who brought happiness and laughter to our house whenever he dropped by, had taken his life that afternoon. It is a great tragedy that Ted, along with many other young men and women, felt that suicide was the only way out. Mental health problems can be invisible, and it is especially tragic that a man we associated with fun was suffering so much.

The Ted foundation is a memorial fund set up in his memory, to combat the problem of suicide in young men and women at University and beyond.  As part of a coordinated effort by his family and friends, a fundraising initiative has been set up. This involves around 30 cycling from various points in the UK to Amsterdam, where I will be joining over 50 others, dragging myself across the line in memory of this amazing bloke.
