When Words Count NaNoWriMo Retreat
Donation protected
On a whim I entered a NaNoWriMo writer's retreat sweepstakes. If you don't know NaNoWriMo, it's a organization that challenges people to write 50,000 words in the month of November.
The sweepstakes that I won is for a retreat in Vermont called When Words Count. It consists of a free room for 7 days and 6 nights, complete with concentrating on writing all day and feedback with the other writers at night. Usually a room at the retreat is $630 for a week plus $60 a day for food. In the sweepstakes, the room is free, the only thing you have to pay for is board for the week, three meals a day. (I phoned them and specifically asked a few times if these were the only charges.)
The total cost is $480 not including transportation (by train or bus), but to hold a room, I have to give them $240.50 asap. The rooms are available on a first come, first serve basis. As of yesterday, they still had room for each of the November weeks. I am hoping that they still have a room by the time I can give them a deposit.
I have asked a few times for help with things from people. I kind of feel like a loser, and now I have a sick rescue cat, Mr. Fluffy, on top of it all. But some have said they would help with this, so even though I'm feeling a little apprehensive asking again on top of feeling down about my creativity in general, I thought I'd go ahead and give it a shot.
If they are full up by the time I am able to sign up, I will refund the funds.
Thanks as always, Tanya
