Northern Spay Neuter Program
Donation protected
Thunder Bay Dog Rescues are unable to keep up with the demand from Northern Communities to save adult dogs and litters of puppies. There are few if any veterinarian services in the North. If they are not rescued, many of these animals will be shot.
The Northern Spay Neuter Program was established in the spring of 2015 to begin to address these dog and cat overpopulation problems. A spay/neuter clinic is just one small step in the big picture of animal population management but it is a start.
Since our first clinics in September 2015, we have completed four clinics with two more about to take place and 6 more in the planning stages. The communities fundraise for the clinics but we need a lot of money for travel, medication, anaesthetic machines and more. We also offer an education component in the schools whenever it is possible to do so.
We have applied for Charity status with Revenue Canada. As well we have decided to purchase our own anesthetic machine, autoclave and oxygen concentrator and are raising now funds for that.
There are many vets, vet techs and vet assistants from across the country willing to volunteer their time to help us with this very important work.
Please consider a donation to NSNP. Your financial support will help make animal spay neuter, vaccinations and parasite treatment a reality for many more communities in the North.
