"Norman" - Memorial Workout & Fundraiser
Donation protected
Last year I began an unexpected journey to do something in memory of my father who passed Dec 18th, 2016. He was a 20 year Army Veteran of 2 wars both Korea and Vietnam. I knew that I needed to do something positive to contribute to the world in his honor and most importantly, help serve a community that he was a part of.
Two things drove me. He suffered from post traumatic stress disorder since as early as I can remember. I didn’t realize it until I witnessed him relive much of his combat experience from his hospital bed.
Also, in his final years he lost the ability to do the simple day to day tasks that you and I take for granted. Bending over, picking things up off the ground and walking became difficult.
It made me realize that we owe it to ourselves to protect our mind and bodies while we still can and support those that need it most. This is one of the reasons I became a CrossFit instructor.
This led me to seek out organizations that support our veterans in mind, body and spirit and provide them the tools to harness their own power to tackle the tough moments they face.
I went in hoping to raise $1000 and thanks to your generosity was able to raise over $1900. It didn’t end there. Thanks to a matching benefit program I was able to turn that $1900 to over $5700.
With success like that I knew I had to return this year and make this an even bigger event.
This years fundraising goal is $5000. I know this is achievable but only if together we share this with as many friends and family as we know.
All funds this year will be going to The Courage Foundation www.couragefoundation.net founded by former Navy Seal Commander Mark Divine.
You can also join me on Monday Dec 18th in a memorial workout I created dubbed “Norman”. It’s a 30 min workout in reference to the 30 days he was MIA after being shot down in his helicopter over the jungles of Vietnam.
Thank you for helping me honor my father and helping veterans learn the tools that can change their life. I look forward to sharing the results.
Happy Holidays
