Nora's travel to her cultural past

Hello everyone!

My name is Nora, and I am a freelance opera singer now having a few months time for myself. I am half Armenian, half-French and I grew up in Montréal, Canada. To visit Armenia was so far a great pleasure for short vacation and visiting my family, now I would like to spend more time in this beautiful country to get to know its people and get more deeply connected to its history.

My project will not change the world, but it will influence my interpretation of music and roles on stage by being more truthful with my emotions.
I therefore need to go back to the essential of life. Who am I and why do I stand in front of thousands and sing?!

After having travelled around the world a lot for my job, I now want to give my soul an important journey: I will walk for almost 4 weeks through the mountains of Armenia between mid-March until Armenian Easter 2017.



My goal:

A part of being an opera singer I also love photography! I would like to witness today’s Armenians way of living deep into small villages and tell their stories through my pictures. I will write a blog, taking at least a “picture of the day” with my phone and then add the best story-telling pictures from my Nikon camera to it when I’m back at my computer.

And I wish to get the chance to sing at the oldest Armenian church for the Mass on Easter, to round up my journey with the truly beautiful Armenian Church music



How the fund can help me:

I need some support from anyone who would like to help this trek. What I do have to bring already, is a backpack, some clothes, a good camera with two lenses, good stamina and an open heart to meet new people.

 What I still need:

- A Flight ticket to Armenia
- Some money and places to stay overnight during my trip
- Food
- A sleeping bag and a sleeping pad

I calculate with aprox. € 3’000 that I would need. Given the fact that I as an artist am good with music but not necessarily with budgets, I hope to not have forgotten anything big!

This travel means a lot to me and I would highly appreciate any help you could give to support me.
