Our son Noah is a beautiful, wonderful little boy.  Noah is non-verbal and there are no indications that he will ever learn to speak; but he can have a voice.

Through an iPad app called Proloquo2Go, he is learning how to use pictures to create sentences and "speak" to the world.  It is truly an amazing blessing!  This app can give Noah his voice.

This program is a specialized app
It is not taught in public school.
Noah attends a private school that is currently teaching him this program; but it is like learning a new language. With Noahs autism and cognitive challenges this will require time.

Unless the tuition is raised Noah will have to leave this school and attend public school. Noah will be alone in a world unable to speak up for himself. Unable to ask for help. Unable to connect to other children and people. We know Noah  has so much he needs to and wants to say.

We cannot explain our fears of Noah being in a classroom unable to communicate. The worries we carry as we imagine scenarios where he cannot speak out and speak up are frightening. Imagine your child at school unable to express basic needs and unable to tell you what they experienced at school or during their day.

This program will give Noah that voice. It will connect him to people. It will make the world a safer and more accessible place.

Our goal is to keep noah at this school until he is proficient in his language Proloquo2go.

Noah started working on this communication program, his language, in Jan 2015.  He is now able to put together simple  2 picture requests like "want jimmy neutron", or "want Mnms". Noah has come very far but he needs more time to become fluent in his language.

We are launching this gofundme campaign to raise  Noah’s tuition, which is just about $60,000. This would be to secure his spot for the 2016-2017 year.

Please Help Noah.  Any amount will help. As we  join together to support his right to a voice.

April is World Autism Awareness Month. And it's discouraging that there is so much division amongst families. I feel as if there is so much energy lost in fighting labels and theories and group agendas. That we forget we need to unite to get the funding, support, and rights our kids entitled to. We will never all agree on anything. Whether it be on autism, education, parenting or even what are great movies. But do we have to agree to see that there is a lack. To see that there are wrongs that need set right. To acknowledge that there are kids and families drowning. In need of more than just a life jacket.

This month I want people who know nothing more than the word Autism to see that it's a real thing. To understand it is diverse. To stand up with families struggling and raise their voice in unison for governments to support our kids through healthcare and education. And I want kids to see that kid in their class or school and not look away or be confused by their behaviour. But to smile say hi, and comfortably know that kid has autism and know what that means for that particular child.

Noah is safe and protected at his school New Haven. And honestly I need him there longer. He needs to be there longer. Please support us if you are able.

Thank you.

2017! The new year is still fairly new. Kids just starting the 3rd week. Parents brainstorming lunches our kids will actually eat; .
Noah was on holidays during Christmas as well. It was wonderful having time together not limited by the routines of school and extracurriculars. Noah loves being at home but most of all he loves seeing family. He loves all the get-togethers and spending time with cousins, grandparents, aunts & uncles. Yet thankfully he never protests returning to school. I know he enjoys New Haven and definitely in part because he loves to learn.
If you are ever curious about his school day please let me know. I will happily take you on an observation time with me!
Over the holidays we were very blessed by gifts towards Noah's tuition.
Thank you very much to all who thought of Noah over the a Christmas holidays. Thank you to those who continue to care about and pray for Noah.
We now have tuition upto and including April!
Love to you all ❤️️

Toileting. Every parent goes through this. It's a struggle for parent and child. It involves identifying body parts. Communication. Body awareness. Control of sensation. Control of bladder and bowels. Personal hygiene. It's actually a very complex developmental milestone that many take for granted. We don't. Noah is 9. And each of these separate aspects has to be taught to him. Has to be learned. And often relearned. And then pieced together. Noah is still learning these skills. Without New Haven he probably wouldn't even have the level of toileting he has already accomplished. But their goal and ours is for him to be fully toilet trained and with the ability to be independent in the washroom. This basic dignity should be available to all kids regardless of their cognitive challenges. Regardless of how long it takes. New Haven has the care, expertise, and patience to teach Noah this basic skill most take for granted.
Help us keep Noah at New Haven. Support him today.

What a development to share! This one is even more amazing bc it didn't happen with us. One of the goals of New Haven for Noah is independence. And not just basic independence but functional independence and for us its communication.
On Sunday bc of busy scheduling conflicts. My sister and her twin girls were watching Noah. This happened spontaneously with them.
From my sister -: "We were just sitting witn Bella (our doggie) me on one side and Chanel (her daughter) on the other. Noah reaches behind the couch and takes his green iPad. I see him looking for pics in his proloquo app. He then selects pics, the first one says, I want help, then with tv vcr, then ciera (her other daughter), then shrek.
-- this is a biggest sentence Noah has ever built. Has ever communicated. Has ever used his communication app outside of us and school!
This occurrence is phenomenal for several reasons.
The most amazing being this message from my sister.

We were like wow he speaks! So Chanel got him shrek and we were like stunned for a minute then I started explaining to the girls that he has never done that with me I know it's his voice but they were happy bc it was like real cousin communication it was like surreal.

Every time I begin to wonder if the struggles to keep
Noah at New Haven are worth it I am overwhelmed and in awe.

Please help us keep Noah at New Haven. He's only 9 and his opportunity to learn and develop should not stop now.
