No Water, No Hope! Let’s Dig Deep 4 SOCOBA’s Youth!

Stop for a moment if you will and think of the basic necessities that you take for granted. When you walk into a room, you flip on a light switch. When you want to cook food, you turn the stove dial and you have fire. When you want to bathe, you either fill a tub or take a shower from a tap in the wall. When you want a glass of water, you either reach into the fridge for an ice cold bottle of Fiji or get it from the tap.

We at SOCOBA recognize that water is a life essential and not everyone in the developing world has access to it. Lack of or inaccessibility to water creates numerous health consequences that often lead to severe dehydration and diarrhea, skin diseases, and other hygienic consequences even starvation. Youth girls and young women are in particular, at greater risk. They are often required to do the fetching and consequently miss school resulting in high absenteeism for girls.

SOCOBA’s 2017 fundraising campaign is aimed at raising $20,000 for the purchase and installation of a borehole. The main water supply in Mabule has been contaminated and has left our people with having to rely on the nearest village 16 kilometers away for water. This borehole will not only serve as a main water supply for the village of Mabule which we serve, but will also facilitate the construction of SOCOBA’s youth center for orphans, disabled, and vulnerable youth.

Your generous contributions are unique in this campaign in that one donation will serve multiple purposes. Your donations will provide a reliable water supply for the village, improve the health outcomes for our youth and their community, and provide SOCOBA with our own water supply to use in the building and construction of our youth center. We urge you to help the people of Mabule and SOCOBA gain access to this essential and basic life necessity.
