We have been been married for 34 years and have never dealt with this level of hate and bigotry. We lived in the south for 23 years prior to moving to Cincinnati and never experienced anything like this. We moved to Cincinnati in 2006 and we lost our son to suicide in 2010. We reside in Loveland and he was treated very racist because he was a biracial young man. He was called the N-word, and other unacceptable terms by his fellow students and residents of the town. One of his teachers even called him stupid in front of the entire class. Unfortunately, with all of this negativity, we lost a wonderful young man. He was intelligent and caring and accepted all people regardless the color of their skin. Our only other child, our daughter, received her Masters degree in Cincinnati and purchased her first home in Price Hill. This was the first home she owned as a young adult. She lived here for over five years until she was promoted and move to Chicago about one year ago. She put so much love and care into this house and really loved living in the Price Hill community. This was the house that was demolished with this crime of hate and cowardice.
When she moved, we took over watching the house for her. The prior tenant had just moved out and we were ready to move in the new tenant on December 1. Since it would be vacant for a few days we checked it the evening prior to leaving town and made sure it was locked up tight. We then went to spend Thanksgiving with our daughter as we do every year. While we were gone, sometime between Thanksgiving day and Monday, November 28 someone climbed in the window of the upstairs floor and demolished our house. Not only demolished our house but brought such hate and racism into her home by spray painting swastikas and white power all over. They wrecked every room. Nothing was spared. They even poured cement down the pipes. We had wanted to move to that home in a few years but this situation hurts so much I don't know if we'll ever be able to do so without remembering the hate that was brought into our home. People need to learn not to look at the color of peoples skin but at the persons character. We are all Americans, we are all in this together.
The purpose of raise money is to cover expenses to rebuild our home.

We were so happy that the perpetrators were caught that I failed to
tell you all how much your support has meant to us. The insurance
will not cover as much as we thought it might, so you all having contributed
will be even more helpful than we imagined. I want to thank you all again and again
from the bottom of my heart for your love, support and donations, not only from
across the US, but from many other countries around the globe. Our faith
in human kindness is being restored, and we are filled with gratitude for the
sense of community we're able to feel again. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Well, good news! They have arrested a suspect! We are so happy! We are on our way to the grand jury to testify. It turns out he was an ex renter whose girlfriend gave us mis-information to get the apartment. Looks like he has a history of white racist acts. He did this to a church in 2013. I guess leopards never change there spots.... Don't know why we were their next victims. We were nothing but kind to them. Wish us luck!

I'm sorry it's been a couple days since I shared an update. As you can imagine this is all been so overwhelming. I am happy to say that there is a person of interest that the police have designated. I just want this person or persons caught and brought to justice.
This go fund me page has raised more than we ever hoped for and we are definitely going to use what we can to unify and show Cincinnati that we all stand strong together, that these racist hate-filled acts are NOT accepted and that these small minded people are in the minority. I will be reaching out via the go fund me page and sharing the plans as they come together. To to the rest of you not in Cincinnati: stand strong, wherever you live we cannot let these people win. America's built on diversity and together we can all end this hatred. If anyone wants to join in and would like me to contact you personally please send me a message and I will send you my email.

If I could only talk to everyone of you and tell you each how thankful we are for each and everyone of you! The response has been overwhelming and so heartfelt. America has always been made up of beautiful multicultural people and if we all stand together we can show the small minority that makes up this group of people who hate those who don't look like them, that they have no power here. We are strongest when we stand together!!!!!

I asked my son and his girlfriend what they wanted for Christmas, they gave me the link to your story and the gofundme page. I was moved and inspired by their generosity. To put it in my son's words "a donation to the family would be a better gift than anything. We're lucky to have each other and already have more than we need." My son and his wonderful girlfriend are a beautiful interracial couple. Wishing you peace and love this Holiday season and all the seasons of your life.
