Help us find those lost or injured

Tax deductible
UPDATE: May 1, 2018. We are sad to report the tragic loss of Quattro, our 6 year old Dutch Shepherd (pictured above). He died suddenly and unexpectedly during a motivational training exercise. He will be missed. He cannot be replaced.
We will continue training KT (4 year old German Shepherd) to provide K-9 search capabilities to the team.
Our newest addition JJ (1 year old German Shepherd) had already started his basic trainng and we expect to have him ready after at least another year of training and certification.
Wish us well in our journey, we have a long road ahead.
Thank you for your support.

Sandoval County Rescue Team has gone to the dogs!

The Rio Grande Basin Heavy Technical Rescue Team has added two dogs to the team to assist in search-and-rescue missions. The RGBHTRT, which has been in operation for nearly two years now, is comprised of firefighters from Sandoval County, Rio Rancho and Corrales fire departments. They do everything from technical rope rescue, Swift water rescue and even large animal rescue.

Realizing that there is no rescue without a successful search, the team has added KT ( a three year old female German Shepherd) and Quattro ( a five year old male Dutch Shepherd). They are both trained to find human scent for those that are lost, missing or injured in a variety of environments from wilderness to urban disaster. After training for nearly two years they recently became certified by the North American Police Work Dog Association. The K-9 handlers also have advanced specialized training from the National Association for Search and Rescue. Training for both the dogs and handlers must be kept up in order to remain proficient. There are many costs for this training from equipment, tracking collars and training  aids, annual travel to workshops and certification events, along with the required daily care and feeding.

Friends of New Mexico K-9 (part of The World's Most Wanted, Inc 501c3) is asking for your donations to help these K-9 teams continue this effort. The handlers have used their own resources to get this far and with your help look forward to providing this service throughout New Mexico and beyond for years to come.

Thank you in advance for your support!
