Nino's Surgery Fund

Nino (real name: Rene, "Tocayo" to his friend with the same name) came from El Salvador in late 2005 and has been working in the Boston food industry ever since.  He started working at Saus about two years ago (or as he says, "The universe took 14 billion years to bring me to Saus.") He addresses everyone as "my dude" (including the dudettes) and treats all of his dudes with the kind of respect and acceptance that inspires kindness and generosity toward our fellow man. If you find yourself in Nino's orbit, he will want to listen to you, understand you, and help you. And so, we are going to try to show Nino the same kindness that he inspires in all of us.

When we asked Nino how he would feel about us creating a campaign to help with his surgery, he said:

"It feels good to be recognized by the community that I feel I have given so much to."

We asked Nino to create a short summary of his cause:

"Having experienced the fear and anxieties that come with opening up and making myself vulnerable,
I've decided that the risk only makes one stronger as well as the person to whom the message is sent to.
Unfortunately I'm not indestructible and I've experienced an injury on my abdominal wall. It's a rupture, a tear that has allowed part of my small intestine to protrude causing what is known as an inguinal hernia to happen. I have learned that having the problem fixed in a corporate medical world can be very expensive. Without having enough funds to cover the expensive treatment, I now ask for help from anyone who might be willing to consider being part of the collective intelligence and help this piece of the puzzle to be able to fit back into the picture."

Nino is grateful to have found a surgery center in Baltimore that specializes in cases such as his. While his dudes at Saus are helping out with some of the expenses of the procedure, transportation, and missed work days, we could use your help in recognizing this amazing human.
