Nikki's Final Chapter Fund

Nikki didn't have the best start in life and came to us aged four from a life of neglect and abuse. Thankfully our paths crossed through a small rescue and we plummeted head first into what would turn out to be a challenging, but rewarding time as dog and owner. Nikki will never be the perfect dog, with bite history and general grumpiness on her side it would have been easy to give up. Alas, we survived thus far! Thankfully Nikki has become a better version of her true self. A dog with brains, love and of course attitude. Together we have overcome reactivity, hating people, our princess tantrums when getting wet, amongst other things. We now face our biggest challenge yet. A battle I know we can't win together. There will ultimately be two loses in this game, her life and my world. Aged 8, CDRM, or Degenerative Myelopathy is our diagnosis, for which there is no cure. It is progressive but thankfully not painful, Nikki will ultimately lose function in her back legs and eventually the final call will have to be made. What I aim to do and have always aimed to do is to give Nikki the best possible chance. Sadly that comes at a price, as an aggressive dog we cannot be insured. Diagnostic tests so far have amounted to over 800£. Now we know what we are dealing with we need to keep her strong and fit. This means hydrotherapy, twice a week ideally but at 15-30£ a session this isn't realistic.
Miraculously we have already raised the money for a set of wheels!
So here I am, determined to give this girl a chance to live her final chapter with just as much fight as our first.
