For the love of Ketchum, For the love of Halloween…
Did you know that the ‘Nightmare on Main St’ we know and love almost ceased to exist two years ago!! With four days to go before Halloween and no Nightmare on Main Street planned, a group of us Ketchum, Halloween enthusiasts banded together, raised $2500 and got the necessary paperwork and insurance completed just in time to save this quintessentially Ketchum tradition.
I love Halloween, but more importantly I love Ketchum Halloween, on Main Street. I think I can honestly say that I have attended all 22 Halloweens since I moved here in 1994. Back in the day as many of you will no doubt remember Nightmare on Main Street was huge and before my time, during the Slavey’s era, this night was legendary.
There are many things that have changed about Ketchum since I moved here, but none of those changes have diminished how extraordinary this place is. The mountains and the scenery that surround us are incredible, that is beyond dispute. But I think it’s the events this town puts on that really infuse the town with the vibrancy and fun that nurtures our sense of community and keeps us energized as a town.
The Gallery Walk, The Trailing of the Sheep, the 4th of July breakfast etc are great, but events like The Ketchum Wide Open and Nightmare on Main Street in my mind are just as important because they are about us, the locals of Ketchum. I feel like these events, in slack, are our opportunity, to celebrate together, what we as locals, love about this Valley.
Please help keep this great Ketchum tradition going and consider donating to the Nightmare on Main Street Gofundme page. We need to reach our goal of $1500 in order to make this event happen.
This is our town event. If we want it, we have to make it happen. Everything on paper is in place (the stage, the lights, the music, the security, the insurance) to make this a truly memorable night. All we need is you and your support to this Gofundme page to make it a reality...
