Dear Friends, Family, and Community:
Today is my birthday, and in celebration, I am making the biggest and hardest ask of my life.
I have spent many years helping others, happily committed to my role as a therapist, volunteer, nonprofit worker, and slightly codependent lover & friend Now, however, I am in a position where I need to put myself front and center and ask for your monetary support.
For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been diagnosed with a recurrence of ovarian cancer, only seven years after my first surgical treatment to remove an ovary. I dream of living a long and healthy life, preserving the vitality of my precious body and remaining ovary, and maybe having a child one day.
In an effort to give myself the best chance possible at a happy and healthy future, I’m pursuing both alternative and conventional treatments. Most of these (primarily alternative) are, unfortunately, not covered by health insurance and I do not have the financial resources to pay for them out of pocket. These include ozone therapy, IV therapy, hyperbaric oxygen chamber and infrared saunas, colonics, nutritional supplements and vitamins, hormone and blood testing, psychological therapies, energy healing, and the list goes on. In total, approximately one month of treatment alone costs $5,000. Additionally, standard tests like a PET scan have been rejected by insurance, and if I pursue surgery, it will personally cost me $7,500.
I understand there may be deep fears, concerns, and skepticism around the effectiveness of some of my treatments and medical choices. Please trust that I have made these decisions only after extensive research and many inspirational discussions with survivors. I hope to some day pass down my own story and learnings to help other women in similar situations. You will be contributing to me, as well as the circle and betterment of women everywhere.
My mission is to not only heal myself and continue helping others as I've done my whole life, but also be a part of a growing movement dedicated to medical innovation through nature, studies on the emotional and environmental effects of our health, and most importantly, the possibility of miracles.
Many of you already wrap me up in your friendship, comfort, and thoughts. For this, I am eternally grateful. And if you decide to share your resources to help me, please know I will be forever touched by your generosity, love, and willingness to walk with me through this journey.
