Nicole's Medical Fund

My daughter Nicole was recently diagnosed with stage two breast cancer at the age of 25.  Nicole has dedicated her life, studies, and work to helping animals. She recently graduated from college with a degree in wildlife management and currently works at the Bronx zoo. She lost her insurance when she graduated in May of this year, the same time that she found a tiny lump in her breast that I was hoping was a just a cyst. Over the next couple of months the tiny pea sized lump grew to be the size of a quarter. This led her to have a biopsy that resulted in the diagnosis of breast cancer. Nicole has a physically demanding job and will have difficulty in the coming months with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Coming up with rent, bills, food, and medical expenses is proving very difficult for her as she makes a small amount as an intern, and the time off for surgery and treatments is unpaid. The cancer services program she is in is helping with medical bills but does not cover the cost of buying a wig which can cost up to $2000. Nicole currently works 7 days a week, working weekends at a farm, just to make ends meet. With the challenges ahead of her I want her to concentrate on getting healthy and not have to be stressed about finances.
