Nicole was diagnosed with breast cancer last August. Since then, she has gone through extensive surgery and treatment. She was on the road to recovery and the future looked positive. Unfortunately, in late spring, she started to experience symptoms of concern. A colonoscopy revealed that she has a tumor of significant size in the colon/rectal region of the body. Further tests and scans revealed that she has two smaller sized tumors on her liver. Nicole is currently undergoing chemotherapy to shrink all tumors. She is scheduled for surgery to remove the tumors on her liver in August. After that surgery, she will continue with chemotherapy and radiation to treat the other tumor. Surgery to remove the other tumor will be at a later time. Needless to say, her world...our world has been turned upside down.
Many friends and family have reached out asking how they can help.
Well, through your donations--medical expenses, meals, and other expenses can be funded for the next few months. Any amount will help this wonderful family. Thank you for your friendship and love.

As many of you know, Nicole has been dealing with the challenges of battling cancer for the last year and a half. It began with breast cancer, and then about six months ago she was given the devastating news that doctors had discovered a colorectal tumor. While determining strategies to combat the colorectal cancer, tumors in her liver were discovered. These diagnoses meant starting a course of chemotherapy and liver surgery. After the surgery she completed more chemotherapy and then a rigorous and painful course of radiation. Unfortunately, recent scans have revealed the return of liver tumors and a nodule in her lung. She started a new course of chemotherapy this week and will be facing surgery in the future.

Nicole is extremely appreciative of the love and support she has received from friends, family and even complete strangers during this difficult time. To all those who have reached out to her, or lent a helping hand please know that it is your concern and support that is inspiring her to stay positive and focused.

She wants all of you to know that your calls and messages are greatly appreciated and asked that you please understand if she does not respond. When at home, her energy must be conserved so that she can focus on her children and try to keep their lives as normal as possible. As one might expect, an enormous amount of her time is spent at doctor appointments and treatments at the hospital, so please don’t misinterpret an unanswered call or text.

Your thoughts, prayers and support are vital and giving her strength!!!

UPDATE
-from the DeOrio Family -

There is good news and bad news. The good news is Nicole's colorectal tumor has shrunk from the radiation and chemotherapy she has been receiving. We are grateful for this. However, the bad news is that during her recovery time, from the last liver surgery, which was chemo free, two (2) additional tumors have surfaced in another part of her liver. With that being said, surgery will be required in the near future. We ask that you all continue to keep her and our family in mind during the long journey ahead.

Thank you, the DeOrio Family!

First, thank you all for the abundance of love and support. There have been numerous fundraisers and local events to raise funds to help Nicole and her family. It is so greatly appreciated! She has such a huge heart and touched so many.

Nicole finished a grueling course of Chemotherapy, and tomorrow will begin six weeks of daily radiation. After the radiation, the doctors will decide when surgery to remove the existing tumors will be appropriate.

Nicole and her family are staying strong but understandably scared. Obviously, we are all praying for a successful outcome.

All of prayers, love and generosity of her family, friends and community have overwhelmed her and made it possible to stay strong and keep fighting.

Thank you again for for keeping Nicole and her beautiful family in your thoughts and prayers!
