Nico: to lose use of hand for life

Two weeks ago Nico started experiencing scary episodes of losing consciousness. These are happening daily. During one of these episodes he landed on his wrist and broke it. We found this out after he was rushed to Stony Brook where we stayed for a week getting nuerological and cardiac monitoring. The doctors are still working hard to find out what is causing the loss of consciousness and painful muscle contractions. Along with the medical care he recieved, we have been told he needs a complicated surgery or he will never have function of his hand again...meaning, without surgery, he will never be able to even write with or use his DOMINANT HAND. He is only in a cast right now in for when he falls. This break will never heal without surgery do to the lack of blood flow in that particular bone. We were able to apply for emergency coverage for the hospital and neurological care but unfortunately we are not covered for the hand surgery as it is considered an out-patient procedure.
We have an incredible doctor (the chief of hand surgery at NYU) who is willing to not only do the surgery, but donate his time! The problem is that we still need to pay for the screws he needs for his wrist along with the facility fee and anesthesia. This is where we are hoping the generosity of our friends and family can bridge the gap and help us get Nico the help he desparately needs. Please donate as well as spread the word to loved ones as this surgery needs to happen quickly. Every week we wait scar tissue builds up and his chance of life long arthritis becomes more likely. Hace dos semanas Nico comenzó a experimentar episodios de miedo de perder el conocimiento. Durante uno de estos episodios, aterrizó en su mano y la rompió. Encontramos esto después de que él fue trasladado a Stony Brook Hospital donde nos alojamos durante una semana conseguir monitoreo de nuerologica y cardíaco. Junto con la atención médica que recibió, nos han dicho que necesita una cirugía complicada o que nunca tendrá función de su mano de nuevo ... es decir, sin cirugía, nunca será capaz de escribir ni usar su mano dominante. Hemos podido solicitar la cobertura de emergencia para el hospital, pero lamentablemente no estamos cubiertos para la cirugía de la mano, ya que se considera un procedimiento ambulatorio.
Tenemos un doctor increíble (el jefe de cirugía de la mano en NYU) que está dispuesto a no sólo hacer la cirugía, pero donar su tiempo! El problema es que todavía tenemos que pagar por los tornillos que necesita para su muñeca, junto con la cuota de la instalación y la anestesia. Aquí es donde esperamos que la generosidad de nuestros amigos y familiares pueda salvar la brecha y ayudarnos a conseguir la ayuda que desesperadamente necesita. Por favor donar, así como difundir la palabra a los seres queridos como esta cirugía tiene que suceder rápidamente (en las próximas 2 semanas). ¡Muchas gracias por su amor y apoyo!
