Nicara's Battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer

At 32 years of age, Nicara was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. Thousands of dollars of medical intervention later, Nicara received a clean bill of health.
Not even 2 years later, Nicara, mom to an 8 year old, has been diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer (stage IV). The cancer has spread to her bones and lungs. Nicara will be participating in a clinical trial at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
Nicara's treatment plan will require her to fly to Boston from Cincinnati approximately 7 times during the first two months (starting now) and then once a month thereafter. In addition to treatment, routine bloodwork and scans, Nicara will undergo various other medical procedures and additional surgery.
The estimated cost of one round trip to Boston is around $1,000.00. This does not include the costs of medical co-pays and non-insurance covered supports.
While all the money in the world won't be able to ease her stress or the stress of family and loved ones, it is our hope that we are able to provide some financial relief in this very challenging time.
