My name is Iceces Jackson and I’m 15 years old. I attend the Berkeley Institute and I’m in S2. I like to dance,play netball, and do track and field. Recently on June 8, I was officially diagnosed with Wolf Parkinson’s White Sydrome.
At only 5 years old my mother discovered my heart beating very fast on many occasions and decided to take me hospital. My heart rate would go up to 250 beats a minute. I was in the hospital almost every month and the doctors wasn’t able to figure out what was going on.
I was referred to Canada to get an operation on my heart but I wasn’t of age yet. I was also referred to Boston but my mother didn’t have health insurance at the time.
I was on medication for several years until my symptoms of Tachycardia went away. About 2-3 years ago I began to get symptoms again. Me and my mother have been trying to go Boston and find out what’s going on so I can get better. We begged my doctor to send me to Boston so they can look into my condition more.
Recently I finally was able to go Boston and meet with a doctor and get test done on my heart. Unfortunately they was unable to see the problem but my doctor sent me a heart monitor.
June 7, 2018 I was playing netball and my heart rate went up to 263 beats a minute. Although we was unable to get to the hospital before the rapid heart rate stopped I was able to catch it on my heart monitor. June 8, 2018 I was diagnosed with Wolf Parkinson’s White Syndrome and I’m now being referred to Boston Children’s to get my operation July 16, 2018. My mom and I are extremely happy.
If I continue to have SVT (Super ventricular tachycardia) I can potentially get heart failure. The heart muscle can get worn out if I continue to have SVT.
In aid of my medical condition we are asking for your assistance to help my medical expenses. My mother has to pay for everything up front such as our hotel. She is a single mother of 4 and we have to leave my 3 siblings here with nourishment with a trip on such short notice.
