Brian's Medical Fund

On January 3rd, 2017, my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer.

We endured many tests and doctors visits in the weeks following. After the final biopsy a full month later, they gave him a timeline of 6 to 8 months as the cancer had already spread and became stage 4 incurable cancer. This was incredibly difficult to hear for my family, as it would be for anybody. My dad, as he's always been, is very optimistic and is giving himself a goal to make it to his 60th birthday in August. His goal after that is the end of the NASCAR season. He is in high spirits for the rest of us, though the pain and fatigue can consume him a lot of the time.

My uncle, who is a contractor, found black mold in their current home that will kill my dad faster if he isn't removed from the home. Thankfully, they were able to use his inheritance to find a new home just down the street, but that entire fund went to getting him out of the home they're in now.

During his first stay at the hospital, I learned that my parents signed up for the ACA with the $14,000 deductible. If you personally know me or my family, you know we've never been the richest bunch. Despite that, my parents have hardly ever asked for financial help as they prefer not to owe anyone anything. The fact that the inheritance was available for them to move is a HUGE blessing, but the hospital bills still weigh on them as well as the new expenses of moving from one home to another.

I am asking for your help so they don't have to. When my dad was able to work, we were just able to get by with bills and day to day life. We lived pretty tight most of the time, so this large of an amount to owe is extremely daunting and feels very impossible.

Our first goal is at least the deductible. My dad's hospice and medication will likely be covered by the rest of the insurance. If we only make them $20 out of this, then that's still $20 they don't have to worry about. $20 is a meal for the both of them. $20 is part of a heating bill. $20 is part of my dad's pain medication. Anything helps, and if you can't swing it. please share and spread the word.

I love and appreciate anyone who offers to help during this time for my family.

Thank you,
Ari.
