Evan's Family Medical Fund

Donation protected
The Evans family has had four catastropic medical events over the past eight years.  Mark Evans,  wonderful husband and Dad was born with an aortic stenosis.  This is the narrowing of his aorta which is close to the aortic valve and the bi-cuspid aortic valve.  Mark has two leaflets instead of three.  Over time his aortic valve has become stiff and damaged.  His first symtoms started about nine months ago.  Two months ago he had an abrupt decline in his over all cardiac functioning.  His symptoms have been extreme fatique, shortness of breath with any exertion and activity intolerance.  He is normally a very active.  He is not able to walk his dogs with having to stop and catch his breath.   After many tests at the University of Iowa Hospital with the Cardiac Team he was told his needs an aortic valve replacement with a possible repair to his dilated aorta.  He will receive an Onyx mechanical aortic valve to replace his failing aortic valve.  Mark is too young to receive a tissue valve.
Mark's will have surgery on May 22, 2017 and will be preformed at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
The Evans family needs help with medical costs.  He will be recovering in the hospital for one week.  The family needs help with day to day living expenses.  During the last few months Mark has had to decrease his work hours due to his severe fatique.  His recovery time is 12 weeks with strict five pound weight restrictions.  He will be unable to work as an electrician as planned.  He does not have any sick time benefits as many trademen do not.  With the state of our healthcare today it takes a village to get through this type of significant medical events.
Mark is a loving husband, to his wife, Jennie and is a dedicated father to his four teenage children.
All of your donations go directly to the Evans family to assist medical and living costs.
