Why are we doing this?
The Full Moon Folk Club is an Edmonton Institution. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Artistic Director Peter Pirquet and all the volunteers that have kept the music going for 30 years. We want to keep the music alive! We have registered a new not-for-profit Society (New Moon Folk Club) and we are asking for your help to cover some of the club's basic startup costs.
How much money do we need?
$14,000. Our crowdfunding campaign will run from June 5 to June 21.
Why $14,000?
· $8,500 artist deposit fees for first season
· $3,000 purchase sound equipment
· $1,100 for November 20, 2015 reward concert (hall rental and sound technician)
· $1,000 marketing fees (website development, social media platforms, crowdfunding campaign)
· $400 administrative expenses (registering a new not-for-profit Society…etc)
When will we start running concerts?
We will run a show on November 20, 2015 as a reward to our crowdfunding contributors. Our first season will consist of three concerts between January and March 2016. We will then run a full season from October 2016 to April 2017.
What will you see when you come to the New Moon Folk Club?
Great music!
The same wonderful venue. The same amazing volunteers. The same loyal audience. The same perogies.
What if we come up short of our fundraising goal?
Edmonton has a strong folk music community. We expect to hit our goal. If Calgary can support seven folk music clubs, we can support two! If we do not achieve our crowdfunding target, we are open to the possibility of bringing in a single corporate sponsor that aligns well with the values of our club and the values of folk music.
What will you get if you contribute to the crowdfunding campaign?
Any donation over $5 is greatly appreciated.
$25 = a ticket to the November 20 concert
$45 = two tickets to the November 20 concert
$100 = two tickets to the November 20 concert and you will be listed as a "patron" on our website and Facebook page through season one
$250+ = two tickets to the November 20 concert and you will be listed as a “patron” on our website and Facebook page through season one and season two
**Note: the November 20 concert will need to be capped at 350 people. First come, first served. Please contribute early so you won't be disappointed.
