Our names are Isa Ghaffari, Leah Roh, and Carol Civre. We are the founders of Motherlode, a digital art lab emphasizing inclusivity and aesthetics through interactive design. We've been selected to take part in the New Museum Incubator, NEW INC. We are excited to get started on this yearlong adventure that will allow us to bring Pillow Talk, a project we're extremely passionate about, to fruition!
Pillow Talk will be the very first Virtual Reality tool that will let viewers explore sexuality, covering topics that are typically omitted from traditional sex education programs, in a unique and immersive manner. This approach to the exploration of sexuality is the first of its kind.
Viewers will be guided through a virtual experience, exploring communication in and out of the bedroom, breaking down stigmas of sex and masturbation, and examining the vast spectrum of sexual identity. Our ultimate goal is to create a safe space in which our users can explore sexuality in a positive and playful environment. Pillow Talk will never fetishize sex or objectify the human body in any way. We are creating a platform that will give voice to those underrepresented in standard sex education.
Pillow Talk is a not-for-profit project that will ultimately become an accessible tool across various platforms such as WebVR and mobile applications, in addition to our initial installation that will launch in August 2018. The NEW INC. program not only equips the resources necessary in developing virtual reality experiences, but also provides dedicated mentors and entrepreneurial workshops within their facilities, next door to the New Museum in Manhattan, New York.
All of the money we raise will fund and secure our spot at NEW INC., as well as compensate the educators and organizations whose research and insight will allow Pillow Talk to be as inclusive and well-rounded as possible.
