New Teeth for Dad

Donation protected
Some of us have the irrational fear of losing all of our teeth or having that bad dream where they all fall out for no reason. For my dad that fear is a reality. Growing up in Poland, my dad didn't have access to clean water or toothpaste because his family was very poor. From a young age he suffered from cavities and just bad teeth.

When he came to America in 1991 he was able to start the routine that we all know so well. Visiting the dentist, getting our teeth cleaned, braces, and just brushing our teeth twice a day. His teeth got a little better on the outside but with all the wear and tear from his first twenty something years of life, the problems were deep within the teeth.

Over the years, I have seen my dads smile get smaller and smaller. His teeth started to deteriorate right in front of my eyes. He feels embarrassed when talking to people and often covers his mouth. It saddens me that he doesn't have the confidence to eat in restaurants because it takes him longer to chew his food. There has been less and less family outings and vacations because he doesn't want others to see his problem.

Recently he went to the dentist to get an estimate for fixing his teeth and finally eating and smiling like he should be. The total came out to roughly $9,000 give or take if what the dentist estimated would even work. He came home just deflated because, well, that is a lot of money for someone who works paycheck to paycheck. He also had to pull two teeth out at that visit because they were severely infected, leaving him with little to no teeth on the right side.

My dad hasn't had an easy life. He has had to work hard for everything he has ever gotten in life. I want him to be happy and heathly and to feel confident when he eats. He is turning 50 years old in June and I would love to at least raise half of what I am asking so that he can live out the rest of his life enjoying food and not feeling constant pain. I know that I have taken my teeth for granted  at times and I don't know if I could ever imaginea life without them. I hate asking others for donations but I truly believe that he deserves this and a chance to enjoy life.

I am doing this as a sort of surprise for my dad because I know that he would never ask someone else for money. I will attempt to get a picture of his teeth now and then hopefully after the procedure. Here are some pictures in the last five years of him smiling less and less.

Feel free to ask me any questions!
