Hello Everyone, 

My name is Alya Cogur and I am 12 years old. I am a full time classical ballet student at Istanbul University State Conservatory in Turkey right now. 

I love dancing! I think I was born to dance as I can’t stop moving when I hear the music. My family shares that my love of ballet started since I was a toddler. My cousin was doing ballet when we were both 3 years old and one day she offered me to try her outfit. As soon as I put that full body tutu I felt super powerful and that’s when the magic happened! I fell in Love with ballet. Since than whenever I dance I still feel that beautiful feelings in my heart and imagine myself flying in the air like a  weightless beautiful feather. Dancing is like a magical dream for me✨

Today I have very good news to share with All of you! I am so thrilled to say that I have been accepted to the Royal Ballet School in London. I am beyond happy and excited for this next chapter of my life. It’s really my dream to continue ballet training at this one of the best schools of ballet. I was determined and worked hard for the auditions. With the help of my wonderful dance teachers and full support from my family I was chosen over 300 students as one of the two applicants to be accepted from Turkey. I am so proud and honored.

I know I can make this work with a community of people who cares and loves me the most. In return I am willing to put endless hours on the dance floor, work hard and have the dicipline to be my best. But to continue my goal of becoming a professional ballerina, I need help to afford this education.  Being a student at this school really is a dream for most ballets and ballerinas as much as mine. My Loving and caring family has been a tremendous support financially and are always there to keep me going. But cost of this school, plus room/board is around $40,000.  We can’t effort this education alone but I believe in myself that I’ll get a scholarship after 2 years as the school administration says it’s possible. Today for the 2019-2020 school year I need your kind support and much love to help me achieve my dreams! If you all believe in me and support me even with a small amount, I know it will grow little by little and soon I will make it to this school. As an appreciation I promise to send you Thank you cards and update you with my ballerina journey.

Thank you for bringing Alya to our White Lodge Final Audition to be considered for a place at The Royal Ballet School. The Selection Panel enjoyed seeing all the talented and enthusiastic young finalists and we hope Alya enjoyed the class and her visit to White Lodge.

We are delighted to let you know that the Artistic Director would like to offer Alya a Year 8 place at White Lodge commencing September 2019.
