Hello Everyone;
My name Is Heath Loxton, i am 18 years old and i am a young out loud and proud gay guy who also lives with a disability - mild autism.
I am raising money for the resourcing of a new queer youth drop in safe space for other young LGBTIQ+ people living in the Adelaide metropolitan area.
I have already spent over $1000 to cover some of the many significant costs involved with establishing a youth group including public liability insurance, venue hire, catering, police clearances and training.
Your donation will allow me to cover costs of perhaps the most important stage of our project - providing resources such as pride flags, arts and craft facilities, books, stationary, paper, printing ink, websites and advertising of our group.
I would like all donations to be recieved as soon as possible, so we can start advanced planning immediatley, ready for a June 2017 start.
Your donation means the world to me and potentially hundreds of other vulnerable, isolated and excluded queer young people, many of whom also have disabilities and other complex life circumstances.
Research has proven that providing well resourced and regular ran safe youth spaces for these vulnerable young people to relax, make friends, meet others in similar situations as them, seek referal to professional support and just have fun can help improve these peoples mental health and alleviate the effects of anxiety, lonliness, isolation and depression.
The rate of depression, for sexuality and gender diverse youth, when compared to heterosexual and cisgender youth is a staggering 3 tp 1. More than 1 in 10 Australians are gender diverse or sexuality diverse.
Therefore everyone, from myself, to the queer youth of adelaide, to health professionals and the parents and friends of these vulnerable young people will be extremely thankful for your donation which will make possible this brilliant and innovative new youth club.
