New Blue Sky mural!

Donation protected
Artist, Blue Sky website BLUE SKY IS PAINTING ANOTHER MURAL IN HIS HOMETOWN OF COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA!

He loves to hear the word YES when it comes to creating his murals! Sky has obtained permission from the state to create a new work of art - a gift to Columbia, South Carolina on the corner of Gervais and Assembly Streets. His working title is “Vista Vision” and he estimates the size of the work will be twenty feet by fifty feet.

Any donation you can offer will be appreciated and help Blue Sky  continue to live and work on his beloved public art projects.

100% of the proceeds raised will go to the artist Blue Sky and to fund his newest mural in downtown Columbia.

If his TUNNELVISION mural or any of his numerous other public art works have ever inspired you, awed you, or brought you comfort, please consider a donation of any amount to fund this new project by Columbia’s own.

The Proposed BUDGET of $12,000 is as follows:

$9,500 Scaffolding (Currently costing $100 per day out of the artist’s empty pockets... so he doesn't have to build his own SkyCar scaffold - shown above - as he did in 1975 when he painted TUNNELVISION!)

$2,000 Paint, brushes, and miscellaneous supplies

$500 Insurance

Total projected expenses: $12,000.

The STRETCH GOAL  is $25,000 to allow additional funds raised for Blue Sky’s labor, time, talent, skill, and extensive work for this new public art. Money raised and left over after completion of this fundraiser, will enable him to continue doing public works. He has spent a couple of months on this new “Vista Vision” project as of this date already.

(…We had hoped to have a fund raiser for the restoration for Blue Sky’s world renown TUNNELVISION mural but we haven’t worked out details with new building owners as yet. Hopefully that will eventually come to pass.)

International quotes about Blue Sky and Tunnelvision mural:

Germany:
“Tunnelvision  breaks down and opens the wall in a fascinating manner. Even when the observer is aware that this is a painting, the transition between reality and image is not evident at first glance.”Trompe l’oeil Masterpieces” (A Trick of the Eye) art history book by Eckhard Hollman & Jurgen Tesch, published by Prestel, Munich, Berlin, London, New York

Belgium:
“… of the most remarkable artists from the past, present, and future of 3D street art…mind boggling oeuvre and unique vision…  thrilling three-dimensional creations transform ordinary locations into alternative realities and behold the unexpected worlds that lie hidden beneath the surface of every day street life… convincing passers-by with lifelike depictions of highly unlikely scenes.” 3D Street Art (Art history book) – Birgit Krols, Tectum Publishing – Antwerp, Belgium

Amsterdam:
“In a nod to Rene Magritte… Perhaps there are no pictures more genius and unique than this trompe ‘oeil painting façade. In any case, Tunnelvision wins in thoroughly convincing it exists.” Nicolaas Matsier in his book entitled Het Bedrogen Oog  (Trompe l’oeil or Deceive the eye) Antwerp, Belgium  & Amsterdam

Italy:
“state of the art of illusion in the last decades of the century” Annamaria Giusti  - Arte e illusion/artedossier – Guinti , Florence, Italy

Sweden:
“Painted with realistic architectural appearance -  a welcome addition to the skyline.” Ingrid Sjostrom - Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Sweden “The Deluded Eye – 5 Centuries of Deception” exhibit, Five Centuries among works of trompe l’oeil.
