New Askar Refugee Camp

Donation protected
"With nearly 18,500 registered persons, Askar camp is among the most densely populated West Bank camps. Overcrowding and unemployment are among the most serious issues. Poor shelters and cramped living conditions offer no privacy for residents in their personal lives, adding to the residents’ physical and psychological strain. Despite its challenges, Askar camp has an active civil society with numerous community-based organizations (CBOs) in the camp." - UNRWA (https://www.unrwa.org/where-we-work/west-bank/askar-camp)

Since its establishment in the year 2000, the Social Development Center has overseen the development of sustainable, grassroots projects that have addressed the needs of the refugees of New Askar and other disadvantaged groups in the region. We design and implement educational workshops, tackle gender-based discrimination, provide therapy to the disabled, as well as promote Palestinian culture, art, music, and identity.

The center contains the following facilities:

·      Public library

·      Computer lab

·      Debkah Team

·      Art Department

·      Handicrafts

·      Math, English and French tutoring services

·      Recreational Sports

·      Theater

·      Vocational Skill Development, which is currently under construction

The donated funds will be used for the following needs…

·      Furniture, chairs and tables for the Vocational Skills Department

·      Funds for field trips

·      Meals for youth

·      Stationary

·      Sports Equipment

The donations will be used for the benefit of the youth, such as low-income individuals and residents of the camp.
