Friends, family, community members, and maybe even kind strangers looking to make the world a better place,
I am so proud to announce that I've been accepted to the University of California Berkeley School of Law!
I need your help to attend and afford my tuition. Now if you know me, you already know that you are donating because of how hard I've worked, because of how much this means to me, and because you know that when I become a lawyer, it will benefit so many more people beyond just you and me.
I am the first in my family to graduate college. I've experienced homelessness, bullying because of my LGBT identity, and economic hardship due to my families low income. In my undergraduate college career, I struggled to make ends meet and because of my immigrations status, (I currently have DACA). I was ineligible to apply for federal financial aid and institutional loans were not available to me. The loans that are available to me, have very high interest rates or origination fees that no one can afford. I have therefore had to work much harder to afford the cost of my college education.
There aren’t many people who look like me that go into law, let alone people that have grown up with the unique perspectives I’ve developed throughout my identity, my experiences, and my circumstances. I've been acceptance into one of the best law schools in the country, and money will not be something that keeps me from being able to take advantage of this great opportunity. I’ve over come greater odds, and I know that with your support, I can make it through the next three years of law school. I am asking you to become a part of and/or continue to be a part of that support system.
It's passion for change that drives my desire to attend law school, but it is the lessons of humility, empathy, compassion and intergity that I've learned throughout my life that to this day continue to fuel my dedication to a career capable of producing meaningful change. An education at UC Berkeley School of Law would give me the opportunity to make that career happen, but in many ways my life experiences have already helped me determine how that education and career would be put into practice.
And so, that brings me to ask for your help! Help me get there and help me make a differece for our communities. I can asure you they will benefit from me becoming a lawyer. Contribute as much or as little as you can, every penny counts, I gaurantee that your investment will make a difference!
