Dear NessBookFest supporters,
First of all, thank you for being part of the journey as we develop what we think is a really special book festival in our wee city: free to all, quirky venues, grassroots and beyond. No barriers!
We can’t wait for this year’s festival which has an excellent programme lined up! But this week we heard that, alongside many other worthy and excellent arts ventures, our main funding application didn’t come good, leaving us with a shortfall of around £7000 - it just reflects the competitive nature of arts funding in the current climate.
Our festival programme launch is less than a month away on 9th September, with the festival itself in October, and we are optimistic that we will be able to raise the funds necessary. As a committee, we are utterly committed to see this through, but we are going to need some help. We already begun approaching other funding sources and local businesses. Whatever you can do to help would be really appreciated: make an individual donation, sponsor us as a business or simply spread the word. Raising the full amount would mean being able to pay performers properly, while making every event FREE for those who attend, and also taking our wee book festival to places like the hospital children's ward, too. No barriers!
