We want to help two Nepali athletes cover their expenses to compete in some of the best races in Europe this summer. Read on!

Nepal tries out for the Golden Trail Series races!!

Nepal has several talented athletes without the financial means to compete at the highest level.
How can they ever reach their potential? It seems unfair.
Travelling out of Nepal is difficult: the cost of travel, the painful visa applications and the coordinated support needed to get entered and paid up, blood tested, buy tickets without international bank account or credit card, make an itinerary with hotels and lodgings. It is a big financial and bureaucratic undertaking, which many other top international athletes probably don't have to face and take for granted.
It's not a level playing field, and these Nepali athletes are at a disadvantage.
We want to raise €2400 towards the cost of their visas, international & local travel, race entries, quality equipment and everyday living expenses.
The Golden Trail Series of races, backed by Salomon, offers some of the most competitive short distance trail races. They are targeting: Mont Blanc Marathon (Chamonix, France); Dolomyths Sky Race (Dolomites, Italy); Sierre Zinal (Switzerland) with other ad hoc training race opportunities in between.
It's a big chance, and it is going to be very tough running with the best in the world!
This programme is guided by Paul & Danielle in Switzerland who'll be volunteering to manage Sunmaya and Durga's logistics. Of course there are many hands helping in the background as always.

Who are the athletes?

--- Sunmaya Budha ---
Sunmaya has talent and drive just like her 'sister' Mira Rai. She's won races in Hong Kong, China and was 10th in the Mont Blanc Marathon last year, so she's hoping to improve on that. She's best over 50 km or less, and the more technical the better.
She's always smiling, if you have met her, you'll know she's shy and gentle, but glides over the trails with a fierce competitiveness.

--- Durga Bahadur Budha ---
Durga runs full and half marathons in Nepal and India as frequently as he can. He arrived at Annapurna 100 last October and boom!: way, way ahead of anyone else! He runs a 2:20 marathon and a 1:04 half marathon (I better check that!) and, while trail is pretty new to him, he's not slow there either. Whatever happens it will be a learning adventure.
Durga is from Jumla in the far west of Nepal, and definitely a deserving candidate for support.

It's started already!
After some drama getting out of Nepal, Sunmaya and Durga have arrived in Portugal met by Paul and Danielle. That's really great!
