My Father has looked after me as a single parent since I was 4, with very little help from other sources. My Mother has been "AFK" for all that time so it has been up to him to raise me. He has always tried to do the right thing for me, even though it has meant he had to make a lot of sacrifices. He has not had a decent Holiday since 2011.
He took on the role of helping my Grandmother, with my Grandfather who had multiple strokes until he passed away, and has continued looking after my grandmother. He devotes a lot of time and effort into doing these things for us. He also spent 6 months helping my uncle who was an alcoholic, which ended up a painful experience as well.
Recently he dislocated his shoulder twice last year, which has meant he has spent over six months recovering from it and needs surgery to make more of a permanent fix, and ended up with Bursitis as well. He is still trying to manage things as best as he can with little or no financial help from anyone. I am trying to help where I can, but the bills have slowly built up, and his funds are running out and he is starting to sell a lot of things he has collected over the years, which have more sentimental value than money, just to pay his bills.
I can see how badly this is starting to affect the way he sees life, all he needs is some help to get ahead until he can get back to work, he is currently retraining to get away from the building industry into disability care, as it is something that he thinks is worthwhile.
He has never asked for a lot, and it would be nice to help sort out the situation and perhaps make things a little easier.
