Need new eyeglasses!

Donation protected
Hi! I'm Deb and this is me in my glasses! I'm on medicaid as I stay at home and take care of my elderly mother and also have an almost ten year old daughter as well. Anyone in the system is familiar with the process for getting eyeglasses with medicaid. You can get one pair, every two years, and the only ones you can get are incredibly cheap frames with even cheaper, plastic lenses. They scratch easily, but you just have to deal with it. You have a few pairs to choose from when you go, and when I did, there was only one pair of plastic frames that weren't children's glasses, these were it in the picture. I can't wear metal frames, as I suffer from chronic migraines and the pads in the nose cause and/or exacerbate my migraines.

I'm very careful with my glasses, always keeping them in the soft case they came with whenever I'm not wearing them. However, they still get scratched. More so than that, I have an astigmatism and have issues with depth perception. As there's no anti glare on these lenses, driving at night is extremely difficult and occasionally dangerous for me. I try to avoid it, but with an elderly, chronically ill mother with COPD who's on oxygen, it's often necessary.

I need new, better glasses, desperately. These are scratched and blurry and with winter here and it getting darker earlier, I'm having to drive when it's dark out more and more. I can't afford to pay out of pocket and my insurance doesn't allow me to just add in the anti glare or pay the difference for better frames. It's all or nothing, unfortunately. I went to VisionWorks today and found a pair on sale. My goal is to raise just enough to get these plastic frames that I saw which are lighter and therefore better for my migraines, and get good lenses in them that are glass with anti scratch and anti glare. I wish I could save up myself, but with the holidays, most of my money goes to my daughter. The rest to bills. I only bring in about $840 a month total. Of that, only about $530 is cash and half of that goes to my part of the rent and the rest is for phone, gas, etc. It leaves me with about $30-$50 a month extra money, if I'm lucky. It would take at least six months to save enough and by then, the sale would be over, and it'd be moot.

I know it seems like a silly thing to ask for help for. But it's important to me and something I've needed for years and haven't been able to save enough for. So please, anything anyone can do to help would be much appreciated. Happy holidays and thank you so much for taking the time to read my little story!
