primary school is just one of the many schools that Seneco Africa educates about environmental awareness. While we teach students about the environment and get them involved in activities that changes their perceptions and actions towards nature and their surrounding space. We also participate in the up keeping of the schools by keeping their classrooms "healthy" so that the kids stay healthy and focus in class.
Without the funding through donations this past year Seneco Africa wouldn't have been able to help with the maintenance of different classrooms. Back in December of 2018, enough money was raised to install electricity in 9 classrooms. It was pure blessings!!!!! Most donations came mostly from the young diaspora that wanted to give back to the community in some way or another. Grand Yoff Primary School needs a big fixer upper. The classrooms are unhealthy.
Now that school is about to close more classrooms need renovations. This will be a big gift for the these young children that deserve a descent classroom in order to focus on their education. We also found out that most of the school walls where painted with paint that contains VOC. Volatile organic compounds are chemicals that evaporates at room temperature which are emitted by a wide array of products( such as paint). Voc can cause eyes, nose, and throat irritation, frequent headaches, nausea and etc. In order to change the health of each classroom physically we must repaint using paint that doesn't contain VOC. We also will change the windows for better lighting, give better chalkboards, tables and change the doors of the classroom.
The work of Seneco Africa has only just begun and in order to continue our efforts in helping the schools, contributions to the organization is essential.
Each donation is greatly appreciated and held highly in the eyes of all that work to keep the organization flowing.
