James' Medical Fund

I had to purchase health insurance through the exchange and in my state there is only one provider, Blue Cross Blue Shield. They only offered three plans. The first was the lowest plan at $139 a month but it had over $10,000 deductable and would not cover anything until the deductable was met. The next plan would cost $350 a month with a $7,500 deductable also not  covering anything until the deductable had been met. The final plan was $700 a month and had a $5,500 dedductable and did cover office visits and other things with $50 co-pay. After we reviewed our budget we determined that we could only afford the lowest plan.  All plans would cover annual checkups so we thought that would be good because we only go to the doctor about twice a year on average.
During my annual exam in March, my doctor discovered I had iron deficiency with rectal bleeding.  He sent me to a gastroenterologist who recommended a colonocopy and EGD to determine if it was a simple problem or more serious. We scheduled the procedure with a local outpatient facility. The facility called me and said that because of my high deductable I would need to pay $875 up front. I do not have that much money so I tried to find another facility that my doctor was affiliated with and they wanted $1,200 up front. When I asked about payment arrangements they told me they did not do that but I could try a special credit card for medical expenses but I was denied.
I am trying to raise the funds that I need quicker then I can save them myself so that I don't run the risk of having a curable or treatable problem becoming an incurable one.
