Photo equipment for kids in Peru

Hallo zusammen,

es freut mich, dass ihr auf mein kleines Projekt aufmerksam geworden seid. Im März werde ich nach Peru fliegen und dort in Trujillo die kleine Organisation Fairmail als ehrenamtliche Fotografin unterstützen. Fairmail ist eine soziales Unternehmen, das mit Fairtrade produzierten Karten Kindern und Jugendlichen in Peru Zugang zu Bildung ermöglicht.

"Die Fotos der FairMail-Grußkarten werden von sozial benachteiligten indischen, marokkanischen und peruanischen Jugendlichen aufgenommen. Auf der Rückseite jeder Karte siehst Du das Foto, den Namen und das Alter des Fotografen/der Fotografin. FairMail bietet diesen Jugendlichen ein Fotografie-Training, Zugang zu medizinischer Versorgung und gibt ihnen Hilfestellung bei der Zukunftsplanung. Die Jugendlichen erhalten 50% des Gewinns vom Verkauf ihrer eigenen Fotos. Dieses Geld investieren die Jugendlichen in die medizinische Versorgung für sich und ihre Familie, ihre schulische und berufliche Ausbildung sowie in Renovierungsarbeiten an den Hütten ihrer Familien."

Ich werde ab dem 01.März dieses Projekt für 2 Monate begleiten und möchte den Kindern als Überraschung mehrere Kameras und entsprechende Filme mitbringen, die ihnen einen etwas ungewöhnlicheren Blick auf Welt ermöglichen. Ich will ihnen zeigen, wie kreativ Fotografie neben der kommerziellen Verwertung als Grußkarte sein kann. Ich möchte ihnen die Möglichkeit geben, eigene Bildideen zu finden, losgelöst von den Regeln der Bilgestaltungen ihren eigenen Blick auf die Dinge festzuhalten. Deshalb würde ich mich sehr freuen, wenn ihr mir dabei helft.

Hi everyone,

happy to see that you discovered my little project. In march this year I will go on a trip to Peru to support a little organization called fairmail as a photography teacher. Fairmail is a social enterprise producing fairtrade photo products.

"The photos on FairMail products are taken by Indian, Peruvian and Moroccan teenagers. You see the face, name and age of the photographer on the back of each card. FairMail offers this youth photography training, a medical fund and guidance in making their future plans. The teenagers get 50% of the profits of the sale of their own photos to finance their housing and education."

I am supporting Fairmail for approx. 2 months and therefore would like to bring a little present to the children and teenagers that I will be working with. With the cameras that I have chosen I want to show them the variety of creativity photography  has to offer. I want them to look for their very own idea of a picture and their very own view for the world they live in. Besides earning a living with it, that is a very important part of photography and an important thing my grandfather has taught me.
