Medical Expense Heart Failure Fund

Hello Everyone,

My name is Misty Thornton and I am 36 years old. I am happily married with four children and was recently diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, Class 3(Class 4 is when I will need the heart transplant)  I have several things that are working against me in getting back to normal range with my heart. My doctor was able to find that my heart is not beating in sync with itself due to a left branch bundle block and my heart is only pumping at about 25% of it capacity. MY cortisol levels, which regulates my BP is dangerously low(Less than 1, normal range is between 6-12), so my heart is working harder to try to keep my BP up and causing it to grow weaker.  My medicines are not working like the doctors had hoped and are thinking that a Pacemaker/Defibrillator will be my best route to take. This procedure will cost $100,000 and I am not sure what my Ins. will cover. In the past month, I have had to stay in the hospital two separate times for a total of 9 days because of my blood pressure dropping dangerously low and my levels dropping to low which required alot of medical testing, xrays, CAT scans, Heart Cath,  Etc . I do have insurance, but that does not pay for everything and I must meet my deductible first on most tests and procedures that have been done to me so far and I am just starting this long journey to recovery. I am having to go to the doctor at least 2 times a week right now and that is a 40.00 copay each visit and each time  they adjust my medications, that is another 20.00 per medication that I must have to maintain my levels and BP. I am having to go to Jacksonville starting next week to meet with Cardiology team there so that they can be put me on the transplant list, do another full evaluation of my heart and to see if my heart is ready for a Pacemaker/defibrillator. This is going to cause even more financial strain on our household with just the traveling, not to mention if they also readjust my medications. My husband and I both work, but he has been taking off work to be by my side at each Cardiology appointment and major tests that are being  done in at each visit. So his weekly pay has decreased a bit and I am not sure how long I have until I may have to go out on disability when I have to get the pacemaker/defibrillator put in and the medical bills are already rolling in. My oldest daughter is also fixing to graduate in Dec. and is engaged to be married next summer, I would like to be able to help her with all of it, but it is  impossible due to the financial strain I am placing on my household. Not to mention the other needs of my three other children, I am now reaching out to you for help so that we can at least keep our bills paid and cause less stress for our family during this already trying time. Anything that you can give with be greatly appreciated and will help tremendously. I have placed everything in God’s hands and pray each day that I will return to my normal self soon. Thank you in advance for listening to my story and helping my family.

Warm Regards,

The Thornton Family
