Twenty years ago my mother (Liliana Viera) made the difficult decision to leave our home in Uruguay for the chance at a better life and more opportunities for my future. We have made a home here, filled with beautiful memories, warm friendships, and an amazing family.
Sadly, the results of the presidential election threaten our well-being here. We are suddenly extremely worried about a future that could possible tear our family apart. Citizenship will give us the weapon to fight back. We will be undeniably legally American, and as such would vote in all future elections for fair and just immigration reform.
We could pack up and leave. Uruguay would welcome us back easily. But we will not be bullied into giving up our home! There are millions of immigrants who don't have the luxury to go back to the country they were born in, and I want to stay and fight for us all. Can you please help me do that?
